Biografía

TRAINING: A typical day of training for me is getting my strength and conditioning workout in the morning or in the MMA gym, working on some drills. In the afternoon and evenings, I am back in the MMA gym, followed by a run or some pad work in the late night. My training schedule is all over the place. I put in work at a lot of gyms.

Thoughts on opponent, Bevon Lewis? Bevon Lewis is an athletic fighter who is good in all areas. What he stands out in is his use of his movement and timing, being able to wear and grind on opponents, and his great hips and takedown defense. He is a fighter who is tailor-made for my style and at some point in this fight I will clip him very badly and that’s when things will start to go downhill for him.

When and why did you start training for fighting? I have always been a guy that knew from a young age whatever sport I did, it would be something individualized. I grew up the only child, and my way of self-venting was by myself. Pro wrestling had a huge impact on me becoming a martial artist. As a kid, I wanted to be WWE Champion and as I got older and started to pay attention to mixed martial arts, I knew I had found my calling in the next chapter of my life. I like to say that, as a kid, pro wrestling was a dream of mine. When I got older, MMA became something I was able to visualize and manifest into a reality.

What ranks and titles have you held? All of my titles were as an amateur, as I won three Middleweight titles - 2 in Wisconsin (Pure FC, Chosen Few FC) and Minnesota (3 River Throwdown)

Do you have any heroes? My heroes are people like The Rock, Conor McGregor, Fedor Emelianenko, my coach, The Undertaker, Stone Cold. (Laughs) I grew up in the Attitude era.

What does it mean for you to fight in the UFC? For me to fight in the UFC would be the start of a Visual Reality coming true. I cannot see myself fighting at the top in any organization, as this is what I have visualized since Day One: Me earning a UFC contract in violent fashion in front of Dana White and starting the first steps towards my ultimate goal, being World Champion.

What was your job before you started fighting? When I started fighting I was working the night shift at a warehouse called Clack Corporation. I worked there until the end of 2015, then I started a new job as a student loan counselor for Great Lakes Higher Education. In August of 2016, I walked into my boss’ office and put my two weeks’ notice in to start training full-time. It’s a sacrifice, however, in order to reach ultimate success you have to be willing to sacrifice.

Specific accomplishments in amateur competition? As an amateur, I had a 7-1 record with all wins by KO and my only loss was by decision. I was the 2016 Minnesota amateur Fighter of the Year.

  • Pro since 2017
  • All wins by KO
  • Two first round finishes
  • Origin of nickname: “It’s a self-proclaimed nickname made up in high school Spanish class. (Laughs) We had a substitute teacher that day and to troll her I told her I changed my name. She started calling me that in class and the rest is history – I’ve been called that since. Now it’s like a mystique.”
