Fight of the Night

Biografía

TRAINING: Wake up at 6am. Get sons ready for school. Go to gym at 10 am, do strength and conditioning, at 12pm do Jitz. Come back at 8pm, do wrestling, as well as sparring.

When and why did you start training for fighting?  I've been a fan since ‘93. But I was getting into a lot of trouble in the streets fighting, smoking, drinking and popping pills. King Mo (Lawal) introduced me to MMA. I remember I was watching Kimbo vs. Ray Mercer, smoking and drinking, and at that moment I said I can beat one of these guys. Then I started training Muay Thai with Saekson Janjira in early 2010.

What ranks and titles have you held? I am the light heavyweight champion in a regional organization.

Do you have any heroes? My Dad because, like me, he was a single father and raised three kids by himself.

What does it mean for you to fight in the UFC? It means God is good and hard work shows you can do anything. I never imagined I would be here, but the UFC is the highest accomplishment I have ever achieved in my life. God is great and amazing.

Did you go to college and if so what degree did you earn? I went to college for two years

What was your job before you started fighting? I am a single father and I was working in the mortgage industry. I lost my job in February and have been unemployed ever since.

Ranks in any martial arts styles: I didn't grow up in traditional martial arts. I played 17 years of football.

Favorite grappling technique: Americana and head / arm choke

Favorite Striking technique: Any one that knocks them out. Right hand is my favorite.

• Pro since 2011

• All eight wins by knockout, six in the first round

• Three wins in under two minutes

• Origin of nickname: “It was given to me by my childhood friend King Mo. He always said I was the palest black person he knew. Said I was a pale as a vampire and I am Daywalker because I am a pale vampire that can walk in the daylight.”
