With John Hathaway forced to withdraw from his UFC 189 bout against Gunnar Nelson due to injury, the UFC has shuffled the lineup, bringing Brandon Thatch in to face the Iceland native for a main card bout.
Colorado's Thatch was originally scheduled to face John Howard in a prelim bout on July 11. Now "Doomsday" will take on Nelson's SBG Ireland teammate Cathal Pendred at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Pendred comes into the bout on a four-fight UFC winning streak that includes a victory over Augusto "Dodger" Montano at UFC 188 on June 13.
