When and why did you start training for fighting? I started when my dad got transferred to Brazil for his job (DEA) and I could no longer wrestle. I started at Brazilian Top Team Sao Paulo at 16 years old. I knew from a young age I wanted to be a fighter, so this became the perfect opportunity.
What ranks and titles have you held? BJJ brown belt under Giva Santana, Karate (MMA) black belt under Ray Thompson
Do you have any heroes? There are a lot of heroes in my life, like my parents for all the hard work they have instilled in me. My coaches and teammates, as well.
What does it mean for you to fight in the UFC? This has been something I have worked towards for 20 years. It has been an up and down road but an amazing journey. I am not doing it for the money, but the legacy. I have three little girls and I want them to look at me and my journey and find inspiration in that so they know whatever they want to do in life, they can accomplish their dreams.
Did you go to college and if so what degree did you earn? BYU and my degree is in Public Relations
What was your job before you started fighting? I currently work in software as a product manager, and I own my own software company (Combat Labs)
